Amritsar (Punjab) December 4:

Raghav Chadha, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has condemned the attack on former Punjab Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, which occurred on Wednesday morning while he was performing ‘sewa’ outside the Golden Temple complex. Chadha stated that violence has no place in a civilized society and emphasized that the quick action of the Punjab Police played a crucial role in preventing any harm to Badal.

In a conversation with the media in Delhi, Chadha said, “We strongly condemn the incident. Violence and such attacks are unacceptable in any civilized society. By God’s grace, Sukhbir Badal was unharmed and is safe. I also extend my gratitude to the Punjab Police for their swift response in apprehending the attacker on the spot, ensuring that Sukhbir Badal remained unharmed.”

Addressing concerns about the law and order situation in Punjab, Chadha defended the AAP-led government, stating, “The Punjab Police is thoroughly investigating all aspects of the attack. Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be shared. This is a sensitive issue, so I will refrain from making further comments at this stage. Regarding law and order, it was the Punjab Police’s strategic action that ensured Sukhbir Badal’s safety and prevented any harm. I commend the police for their timely and effective response.”

The individual behind the attack, identified as Narain Singh Chaura, is reported to have links with Babbar Khalsa International. Chaura had fled to Pakistan in 1984 and was involved in the smuggling of explosives. He served a prison sentence in Punjab before being released in 2018.

The attack has shocked many, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has described it as part of a larger conspiracy. “The Punjab Police successfully prevented a major incident today. Their quick action foiled the attempt to defame Punjab and Punjabis. I commend the police for apprehending the assailant on the spot and ensuring Sukhbir Badal’s safety. I strongly condemn the attack,” Mann said on X.
