Tamil Nadu, February 8:
A shocking incident occurred in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore district, where a pregnant woman was thrown off a moving train after she resisted a rape attempt. The incident took place on Thursday morning around 10:30 AM while she was traveling alone on the Coimbatore-Tirupati Intercity Express.
The victim, identified as 36-year-old Revathi, had boarded the train from Tiruppur with an unreserved ticket at 6:40 AM. She was seated in the ladies’ compartment, where at least seven other women were present, officials reported. However, by the time the train reached Jolarpettai Railway Station at around 10:15 AM, all the other female passengers had deboarded, leaving her alone in the coach.
Taking advantage of the situation, a man named Hemaraj (27) boarded the compartment. After sitting quietly for a while, he suddenly attempted to sexually assault the woman. When she resisted and fought back by kicking him, the accused, in a fit of rage, pushed her out of the moving train.
The woman suffered severe injuries on her hands, legs, and head. Upon receiving information, railway officials and emergency responders rushed her to Vellore Government Hospital, where she is currently receiving medical treatment.
Reports suggest that the woman was on her way to her mother’s house when the attack took place.
Based on her complaint, police have registered a case and arrested Hemaraj. Investigations revealed that the accused is a repeat offender, previously arrested in cases of robbery, sexual assault, and even murder.
Authorities are further probing the incident while ensuring the victim receives necessary medical and legal support.
