Bharatiya Janata Party has canceled the ticket of two-time MP Kirron Kher from Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat and this time has fielded former BJP state president Sanjay Tandon. Tandon is co-in-charge of Himachal Pradesh BJP. Tandon is the son of senior BJP leader Balramji Das Tandon. Sanjay Tandon has also been the former state president of Chandigarh BJP. Tandon has played a very important role in setting up the BJP organization in Chandigarh.
BJP has declared its candidate first from Chandigarh. Congress is still waiting.
Congress has got Chandigarh seat under alliance with AAP.
This time in Chandigarh, Aam Aadmi Party and Congress have announced to contest elections together. In this alliance, Chandigarh seat has gone to Congress. Although Congress has not yet announced its candidate, it is believed that Congress may field former MP and former Union Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal.
