Chandigarh, Nov 9
In the Haryana Assembly elections, “jalebi” became a popular talking point, but now, during the Maharashtra and Jharkhand elections, “samosa” is grabbing headlines. Once again, Congress leaders are at the center of the controversy, with the latest samosa dispute surfacing in Himachal Pradesh and making its way into Haryana.
Haryana’s BJP government Minister for Energy and Transport, Anil Vij, took a jab at Himachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, over the samosa controversy. Vij commented, “It’s concerning that a Chief Minister who can’t manage a samosa may struggle to govern the people of Himachal.”
How the Samosa Controversy Began
Last month, an event was held at the CID office in Himachal Pradesh, attended by Chief Minister Sukhu. Cake and samosas were ordered for the event, meant to be served to the Chief Minister. However, the menu did not officially mention them, so the staff on-site offered the samosas to the police staff and other attendees instead. As a result, CID Chief SR Ojha verbally ordered an investigation.
Findings of the Three-Page Report
A three-page investigation report revealed that the samosas intended for the Chief Minister were instead served to his staff. The report also indicated that the incident reflected anti-CID and anti-government sentiments. The leaked report has since sparked significant uproar.
Anil Vij’s Comments on the Waqf Bill
Meanwhile, AAP MP Sanjay Singh accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of trying to forcefully pass the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. In response, Vij remarked that MPs vote freely in the Lok Sabha when a bill is introduced. He questioned Singh’s basis for claiming that the bill is being forced through, highlighting that parliamentary proceedings are conducted live on camera.
