Punjabi University PM A grant of 20 crore rupees under Usha Abhiyan, Vice Chancellor Prof. Arvind congratulated the staff and students
Patiala 20 February 2024- Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University Prof. Another major success under Arvind’s leadership, the university secured a grant of Rs 20 crore under the Prime Minister’s Higher Education Scheme (PM Usha). Five universities of Punjab had applied for this grant, out of which only Punjabi University could get the grant.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Arvind expressed his happiness on this success and congratulated the entire staff and students of the university. He said that this has been possible due to the hard work of the staff and students of the university. He said that it is a matter of pride and satisfaction for Punjabi University that P.M. All the criteria of Usha have been fulfilled only by our university.Prof. Arvind said that this has increased their responsibility and the staff and students of the university will have to work harder to maintain their status. He said that Punjabi University represents Punjabis in the field of education and sports along with Punjabi language and culture. Because of this, it is their primary responsibility to take its status to greater heights.
P.M. Punjabi University under Usha has received this grant for three years. This grant is from UGC. Provided to educational institutions under the Act. To receive this funding, the educational institution must have a good National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAC) score. Punjabi University received ‘A’ pulse certificate from NAAC in October, 2024 by which the university has succeeded in getting this grant. Apart from assessing the ‘quality status’ of education in colleges, universities or other recognized higher educational institutions, NAC also assesses the outcomes of academic programs that improve the overall development of students. Vice Chancellor Prof. By achieving A Plus grade of NAC under the leadership of Arvind, the university has also become eligible for many central funds and scholarship programs. M. Usha scheme gives 100 out of 100 marks.
P.M. Usha Scheme is a centrally sponsored scheme under the Ministry of Education, Government of India to improve the quality of higher education and increase access to students across the country. The scheme aims to improve higher education curriculum, teacher training, infrastructure, accreditation and employability in states and union territories. Through this, financial assistance is provided for the development of the higher education system. It aims at enhancing infrastructure, transforming traditional single-stream higher education institutions into multi-disciplinary institutions.
Coordinator of PM-Usha Scheme Balwinder Singh Such said that the infrastructure of the university will be improved under this scheme. Accordingly, classrooms for new courses of the university, renovation and extension of buildings, sewerage plant, lifts of multi-storied buildings and other works will be done. With this grant, the astronomical observatory located at the university will be re-commissioned. With this, new digital laboratories and network facilities will be provided. Laboratory equipment will be purchased for new courses in science departments. The grant will also help to start training for entrepreneurship and career oriented courses.
