Punjab Police Detain SKM Leaders Protesting Slow Paddy Procurement; Farmers Vow to Continue Agitation

Sharing is caring!

Chandigarh, Oct 17

On Friday, the Punjab Police detained several leaders of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), rice millers, and commission agents protesting against the sluggish paddy procurement process in Mohali. While some leaders were prevented from entering Chandigarh, a few managed to reach Kisan Bhawan, where they vowed to continue their protest.

Farmer leader Raminder Singh declared Kisan Bhawan as the center of their agitation, with plans to meet Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday. The protest stems from delays in paddy procurement, with farmers, millers, and commission agents demanding prompt action from the government to address their grievances.
