Punjab, January 16:
The Punjab government has announced a 5% salary hike for outsourced Punbus employees. This increase will directly benefit drivers, conductors, and employees working in workshops. Employees who complete one year of service by November 1, 2024, will be eligible for this raise, which will be implemented from November 1.
The meeting with the Punjab Roadways, Punbus, and PRTC Contract Workers Union, which was scheduled with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, was instead held with Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar in the absence of the Chief Minister. The meeting was attended by the Chief Minister’s Special Principal Secretary Ravi Bhagat and other officials. Union leaders, including President Resham Singh Gill, Secretary Shamser Singh Dhillon, and Senior Vice President Harkesh Kumar Vicky, shared that there was an agreement to create a new policy for the transport department.
It was decided that, based on the documents provided by the union, a policy for regularization under service rules would be drafted and immediately forwarded to the Advocate General of Punjab. Following this, on January 25, legal discussions will take place with senior officials and the transport minister, and by February 3, the policy will be finalized in consultation with the union and implemented.
