Chandigarh, February 20:

In Punjab, four Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) from border areas, including Amritsar, Batala, Tarn Taran, and Kapurthala, have been transferred. Additionally, IPS officer Alka Meena has also been reassigned. This decision comes in response to dissatisfaction expressed by several MLAs.

On Wednesday, action was taken against 52 officers ranging from constables to inspectors in the police department, creating a stir in administrative circles. Meanwhile, 12 MLAs, upset with the bureaucracy, have lodged complaints against officials, including some senior police officers. These complaints have been forwarded to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Chief Secretary KAP Sinha.

MLAs Raise Concerns Over Corruption and Drug Trafficking

According to sources, MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh had submitted complaints to the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary regarding certain police officers in Amritsar North, alleging their involvement in drug trafficking and corruption.

Strict Action Against Officers Delaying Government Work

Amid the ongoing crackdown on 52 police personnel, Chief Secretary KAP Sinha has issued a directive to all department secretaries and senior officials. In his letter, he emphasized strict action against officers deliberately delaying or obstructing government work. He has instructed all departments to identify such officials, update their Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs), and take immediate action against them.
