Punjab farmers, who have been protesting at Shambhu Border over the implementation of MSP (Minimum Support Price) and other demands, have decided to delay their march towards Delhi until Sunday. The farmers have given the government an ultimatum for talks today. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher stated that the doors of the farmer unions are open for discussions. If the central government extends an invitation for talks, steps can be taken towards resolving their demands. Pandher also mentioned that BJP leaders in Punjab will be surrounded on Saturday, and on Sunday, farmers will once again attempt to march towards Delhi.
Earlier, farmers attempting to march to Delhi on Friday were stopped at the Haryana-Punjab border. Haryana Police and paramilitary forces prevented them from moving forward at the Shambhu border. This led to a standoff between the police and the farmers, lasting about two and a half hours. During the clash, police used chili spray and tear gas shells, resulting in 15 farmers being injured. One of the farmers, 26-year-old Harpreet Singh, is in critical condition. Six Haryana police officers were also injured in the incident.
