Chandigarh, December 4:
Haryana Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has undertaken extensive work in the interest of farmers. Farmers have benefited from various schemes. Last night, Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini spoke to the media at the New Delhi railway station after traveling from Chandigarh to New Delhi by Shatabdi train.
The Chief Minister stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has implemented numerous schemes for the welfare of farmers and worked towards strengthening them financially. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, farmers are provided with an annual assistance of ₹6,000, which helps them purchase seeds and fertilizers.
He added that the Congress party previously spread misinformation that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops would be discontinued, but this did not happen. On the contrary, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has increased the MSP for crops. During the Congress regime, the MSP given to farmers was much lower than the 1.5 times higher MSP provided during Prime Minister Modi’s tenure. Furthermore, the state government not only ensures MSP for farmers but also procures every single grain of the crop.
The Chief Minister remarked that during the Congress regime, farmers received no proper hearing or significant compensation for crop damage. Compensation used to be as low as ₹5 to ₹10. However, under the current government, farmers are given full compensation for crop loss.
Shri Saini further stated that before 2014, the amount of land under cultivation was much less compared to now. Under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, irrigation facilities have expanded, covering 1.5 times more land than before. By providing irrigation to larger areas, the BJP government has worked to increase farmers’ production.
Since 2014, the area under cultivation for paddy, wheat, and other crops in the state has increased. Alongside this, crop yields and farmers’ incomes have also grown.
