PM Modi Pays Tribute to Former PM Manmohan Singh; Funeral to Be Held Near Rajghat

New Delhi, December 27:

India’s former Prime Minister and eminent economist Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away last night at the age of 92. He breathed his last at AIIMS in Delhi. Due to age-related health issues, he was admitted to the hospital at 8:06 PM, where doctors declared him dead at 9:51 PM.

Dr. Singh’s mortal remains will be kept at the Congress headquarters on December 28 for public viewing from 8 AM to 10 AM. Following this, his funeral will take place near Rajghat.

Dr. Manmohan Singh’s contribution to India’s economy and politics remains unparalleled. Recognized as the architect of the 1991 economic reforms, he steered the country toward a new economic direction. He served as the Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014 and earlier as an influential Finance Minister.

PM Modi Pays Tribute

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Dr. Singh’s residence to pay his respects. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda were also present during the tribute.

Political Fraternity Expresses Grief

Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal described Dr. Singh’s demise as an “irreparable loss” for both the nation and the Congress party. “Dr. Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister for 10 years and as Finance Minister for 5 years exemplified good governance. His passing is a great loss to the country,” he stated.

Personal Mourning and Memories

Residents of Dr. Singh’s hometown in Punjab also expressed their sorrow. A local resident said, “Dr. Manmohan Singh was deeply connected to Amritsar, and we feel a profound loss at his passing.”

The final rites will be performed after the arrival of Dr. Singh’s daughter, who is returning from abroad. Across the country, national and state-level tributes are being organized in his memory.

Dr. Manmohan Singh’s legacy as a leader of integrity and a pioneer of economic reforms will forever be remembered. His 10-year tenure as Prime Minister and his impactful term as Finance Minister set benchmarks in governance. His demise marks the end of an era in Indian politics.
