Mumbai, April 27
Eleven Nigerian nationals were apprehended by the police in Navi Mumbai on Saturday for purportedly orchestrating a drug operation, resulting in the confiscation of cocaine and other narcotics valued at Rs 1.61 crore. The arrest followed a raid prompted by intelligence received by the Anti Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC). Conducted on Friday at a residence in Koprigaon, Vashi, the raid led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of drugs, predominantly cocaine, along with mephedrone and MDMA. The suspects, aged between 30 and 50, were formally detained early Saturday morning. Additionally, mobile phones and equipment valued at approximately Rs 25 lakh were confiscated from the accused. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been initiated at the APMC police station in Vashi, with investigations currently ongoing.
