New building of Municipal Council will be built on Barwala Road in Derabassi

An important meeting of the Municipal Council was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Chairman Ashu Upneja. In this, important proposals were made for the development of the city. These include several important proposals related to shifting the new building of the Municipal Council office in the city to the Canter Union site on Barwala Road. Whereas earlier there was a proposal to build a city council office in the bus stand building, which was rejected.

Regarding this, Council President Ashu Upneja said that keeping in view the future needs, it has been decided that the new building of the Municipal Council office will be built on the open space of Canter Union in an area of ​​about one acre on Barwala Road. Whereas earlier there was a plan to build a city council office in the commercial plaza located at the bus stand, which has now been canceled. Similarly, a proposal to build a beautiful park at the bus stand was passed. A small park with a tank will also be added to this park behind the bus stand. Similarly, a three-story commercial plaza will be built in place of the old Municipal Council building, whose shops will be given on rent. Similarly, the fire brigade will also be removed from here, a bus stand will be built, and the vegetable market will be removed from the highway and shifted to an open place. It is noteworthy that currently, the Municipal Council office is running in Saini Bhawan, whereas it will be vacated after the construction of the new building.

BVP will maintain the Rambagh cremation ground
Council President Ashu Upneja said it has been decided to give the maintenance work of the city’s main Rambagh cremation ground to a private organization Bharat Vikas Parishad. Apart from the Municipal Council President, seven councilors will be included in this organization. The Municipal Council decided to spend Rs 30 lakh on the development works of this cremation ground. Apart from this, he asked to write a letter to the Punjab Government to close the liquor vends opening in the populated areas of the city and to impose a tax on overloaded tippers running on the city roads and the damage caused to the roads by tippers. Other important resolutions were passed, including writing to the traffic police to fix timings for tippers to avoid traffic jams. Executive officers and councilors of the Municipal Council were present on this occasion.
