Chandigarh, April 18
In a recent development, there is a surge of enthusiasm among party workers following the appointment of senior Congress leader and former Union Minister, Manish Tiwari, as the joint candidate of the India Alliance from Chandigarh. The District Congress Manimajra held a meeting where Member of Parliament Tiwari and State Congress President H.S. Lucky received a warm welcome. During the gathering, MP Tiwari highlighted the plight of the people under the policies of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre. He pointed out the failure of the BJP to deliver on promises such as providing jobs to 2 crore youths and depositing Rs 15 lakhs into people’s bank accounts. Instead, inflation has escalated, severely impacting households’ financial stability. Tiwari emphasized the necessity of removing the BJP from power to salvage the nation, stressing that this battle transcends party lines and is a collective responsibility of every citizen. He appealed for cooperation from all quarters.
Prior to Tiwari’s address, District Congress President Surjit Singh Dhillon, former Mayor Gurcharan Das Kala, and Sanjay Bhajni felicitated him and State Congress President Lucky, with the presence of numerous party members. The appointment of Manish Tiwari as the joint candidate reflects a strategic move by the India Alliance, aiming to consolidate support and challenge the ruling party’s dominance in Chandigarh.
