Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), January 1:
In a chilling crime that has left the region in shock, Lucknow Police arrested a 24-year-old man named Arshad for allegedly murdering his mother and four sisters in a local hotel.
The heinous act, reportedly carried out with assistance from his father, has raised alarm across Uttar Pradesh.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central Raveena Tyagi stated, “We received information from the Thana Naka area that five dead bodies were found in a room at Hotel Sharanjeet. The accused, Arshad, has been taken into custody. He confessed to killing his mother and four sisters — some by slitting their throats and others by cutting their wrist nerves.”
The victims, identified as Alia (9), Alshia (19), Aksa (16), Rahmeen (18), and their mother Asma, were discovered by hotel staff, who immediately informed the authorities.
Arshad, who hails from Islam Nagar, Tedi Bagiya, Kuberpur, Agra, admitted during questioning that a prolonged family dispute involving neighbors led to the killings. According to his confession, the family was first taken to Ajmer and then brought to Lucknow the day before the tragedy.
“Arshad has alleged that his father assisted in the crime. However, the extent of his father’s involvement is still under investigation. We have contacted the Agra Police for further inquiries,” added DCP Tyagi.
During interrogation, Arshad explained that he first attacked his mother and then turned to his sisters, who were sleeping in the hotel room. In a video clip recorded by the police, Arshad is seen detailing the murders and expressing that pent-up frustration over family disputes drove him to commit the crime.
Forensic teams have secured the hotel room, collected evidence, and initiated a detailed investigation. Senior police officials also inspected the scene to ensure no detail was overlooked.
The victims’ bodies have been sent for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and clarify the sequence of events.
DCP Tyagi remarked, “The exact details of the motive and circumstances will be revealed after further investigation and the post-mortem results.”
This tragic incident has highlighted deep-rooted familial conflicts and raised questions about the father’s alleged role in the murders. Authorities continue to investigate all aspects of the case to uncover the full truth behind this horrific crime.
