Lakhimpur Kheri, February 1:
A teenager from Nighasan area of Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh was lured into love trap and taken to Dehradun, where all limits of inhumanity were crossed with her. The accused allegedly raped her and then strangled her to death. Not only this, to hide her identity, they attacked her face, broke her jaw and gouged out her eyes.
Mourning in the village, family demands justice
As soon as the body of the teenager reached the village on Friday morning, the atmosphere became gloomy. A crowd of villagers gathered and started demanding justice. In view of the situation, a large number of police forces were deployed. The family of the deceased demanded strict action against the culprits and bulldozers to be run on their houses. Police and administrative officials pacified the family after a lot of effort. The funeral process started at around 2.30 pm, but the deceased’s father suddenly left the place. The villagers found him and brought him back, after which the funeral was completed.
Main accused arrested in encounter, search for others continues
In this heart-wrenching incident, the police have registered a case against 13 people. The main accused Asif was arrested after an encounter on Thursday night. Apart from this, six other accused including Shamshad, Razzab, Jibril, Zuber and Maqbool have also been taken into custody, while seven are still absconding. The police is searching for them.
Murder committed within 24 hours
According to the police, accused Asif took the teenager with him to Dehradun on January 25. There he, along with his accomplices, committed inhuman acts and then killed her. The police registered a case of kidnapping on January 27, after which the investigation intensified. On finding the body, a case was registered against 13 people under serious sections like POCSO Act, kidnapping and gang rape.
First strangled, then tried to disfigure the face
During interrogation, the accused told that the teenager was first taken to the house of one of the accused in Dehradun. Fearing getting caught, they took her to the forest, where they brutally murdered her. Police investigation revealed that the accused had badly damaged the face of the teenager to hide her identity.
Three female accused also on the radar
On the basis of the complaint lodged by the family, three more women will be named in the case. ASP Napal Singh assured that all the culprits will be given the harshest punishment.
Security increased in the village
There is tension in the village after the incident. Heavy police force has been deployed to prevent any untoward situation. Police say that the absconding accused will be arrested soon and the entire action will be done in a transparent manner to get justice to the victim’s family.
