A massive heroin trafficking network has been exposed in Punjab, with Navpreet Singh from the village of Wazir Bhullar near Beas at its center. Known as a major heroin kingpin, Navpreet is closely linked to terrorists based in Pakistan and has become a key dealer for Afghan heroin traders. He currently operates an extensive heroin network in collaboration with Afghan drug lord Isha Khan.
Navpreet has become a major target for the NIA and other agencies as he frequently changes his location. Initially thought to be in Dubai, he later moved to Portugal, with recent tracking showing him in Turkey. Navpreet is also linked to a recent shipment of 105 kg of heroin from Pakistan and is involved in arms trafficking and supporting gangsters.
Two years ago, Navpreet arranged for a shipment of 354 kg of heroin worth ₹2500 crore from Portugal to his associates in Punjab, Gurpreet Gopi and Gurjot Golu. This batch was intended for distribution across Punjab and other states after being mixed with chemicals to increase its quantity. Previously, a heroin batch worth ₹2700 crore was seized in Amritsar, with Navpreet suspected to be behind it as well.
Associates and Connections with Khalistan Liberation Force
Navpreet has connections with Rajinder Singh alias Ganja, a wanted criminal arrested by Punjab Police. Rajinder, involved in multiple drug supply operations, used to deliver drug shipments to Punjab and remit the drug money back to Navpreet through hawala. Navpreet is also linked to the banned Khalistan Liberation Force, with detained KLF operative Jasbir Singh alias Jaz confessing to heroin supply connections with Navpreet’s associate Rajinder.
Agencies Face Challenges in Tracking
Navpreet often evades authorities by frequently changing his hideouts. Intelligence agencies located him in Dubai, but he shifted to Portugal and later to Turkey. His network in Punjab includes new faces that agencies find difficult to trace. Navpreet is also connected to gangsters like Pidha, involved in the Nabha jail break, and he relies on Isha Khan to send drugs into India.
