Khanauri Border Protests: Jagjeet Singh Dallewal’s Health Deteriorates, Another Farmer Dies During Protest

Sharing is caring!

Khanauri border (Punjab), January 13:

The condition of farmer leader Jagjeet Singh Dallewal, who is on an indefinite hunger strike at the Khanauri border, has taken a serious turn on the 49th day of his fast. According to doctors, his bones, particularly around the eyes, have started to shrink, which is deeply concerning. Additionally, his blood pressure, sugar levels, and other health markers remain abnormal. A team of doctors is continuously monitoring his condition around the clock.

In the meantime, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) and the SKM (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha will hold a meeting in Paatran today to discuss strategies for mutual coordination. Initially, this meeting was scheduled for January 15 in Patiala, but it has been moved to Paatran. Abhimanyu Kohad, a farmer leader, confirmed that representatives from both factions will attend this important gathering.

A large group of farmers from Hisar arrived at the Khanauri border on Sunday to show solidarity with Dallewal. The farmers expressed that Dallewal is the leader of the entire farming community, and they are willing to sacrifice their lives for him. On Monday, another group from Sonipat is expected to join the farmers at Khanauri in support.

Dallewal’s Letter to Saints and Religious Leaders

In a significant move, both factions of the farmers’ unions shared a letter written by Dallewal addressed to saints, religious leaders, and spiritual guides. The letter highlights the ongoing struggle for the fulfillment of promises made to farmers by various governments over time. It mentions the suffering endured by thousands of farmers who have been protesting for the last 11 months, with several casualties and injuries. Despite sending letters to the Prime Minister, Vice President, and Supreme Court judges, none have responded. The letter calls for prayers for the success and strength of the farmer’s movement, urging divine support for victory.

Farmer Jagga Singh Passes Away at Khanauri Border

In another sad development, 80-year-old farmer Jagga Singh from Godara village in Faridkot district passed away on Sunday at the Khanauri border. He had suddenly fallen ill and was rushed to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala for treatment. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his illness around noon.

The health crisis of Dallewal, combined with the tragic loss of another farmer, has further intensified the emotions of the farmers at the Khanauri border. The struggle for their demands continues, as they remain hopeful for justice and resolution.
