Chandigarh, December 14:
The organisers of Punjabi singer Karan Aujla’s concert have been fined ₹1.16 crore by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation for displaying advertisements without authorization. The concert, which marked the India leg of Aujla’s It Was All A Dream tour, took place on December 7 in Chandigarh and drew over 30,000 attendees.
The penalty notice was issued to M/s Scope Entertainment and Team Entertainment Innovation. The notice stated: “No advertisement can be displayed, erected, or retained on any land, building, wall, or structure without prior written approval from the Chief Administrator, as per Clause 4 of the Chandigarh Advertisement Control Order, 1954.”
The organisers have been directed to pay ₹1,15,60,191 by December 17. The amount includes advertisement fees, penalties, interest, and GST. Failure to comply within the specified timeframe will result in further action under the law, including an 18% annual compounded interest on the unpaid amount.
This hefty penalty highlights the importance of adhering to advertising norms and obtaining proper permissions for public events.
