India, China Agree to Resume Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and Direct Flights

Sharing is caring!

New Delhi, January 28:

India and China have decided to reinstate the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra starting this summer, alongside agreeing in principle to resume direct flights between the two nations, which were halted during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The announcement follows a significant meeting in Beijing between India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and China’s Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong. The talks, which covered a broad range of bilateral issues, aim to foster closer ties between the two countries.

This development comes more than two months after both nations successfully disengaged their troops in eastern Ladakh, signaling efforts to stabilize relations. The measures announced reflect a shared commitment to “rebuild” trust and cooperation, enhancing people-to-people exchanges and connectivity.

Further details about the resumption of the yatra and flights are expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.
