The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar during a military operation in Gaza, as verified by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The operation was part of Israel’s broader campaign targeting Hamas leadership, including previous strikes that killed key figures like Rawi Mushtaha and Samah al-Sirraj. Sinwar, believed to have masterminded the October 7 attacks on Israel, was recently made head of Hamas’s political wing following the assassination of Ismail Haniya in Iran.

Israel’s campaign has also extended to Hezbollah, with airstrikes killing Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon. The IDF has been conducting operations cautiously, and recent strikes in Jabaliya have claimed the lives of around 20 Hamas operatives. Israel remains focused on dismantling Hamas’s infrastructure while issuing warnings to civilians in northern Gaza to evacuate.

Prime Minister Netanyahu’s confirmation of Sinwar’s death marks a significant moment in the ongoing conflict. He has reportedly ordered that the heads of Hamas leaders be presented to the families of Israeli hostages, emphasizing the intensity of Israel’s retaliatory efforts.
