Rohtak (Haryana), March 3:
Haryana Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Congress worker Himani Narwal, whose body was found inside a suitcase in Rohtak on Saturday. Following the discovery, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the case.
Officials confirmed the arrest on Monday, stating that further inquiries are in progress.
Narwal, a resident of Vijay Nagar in Rohtak, was known for her active involvement in politics. She was also pursuing a law degree.
Her family, seeking justice, has refused to conduct her final rites until those responsible are brought to justice.
Congress leaders in Haryana acknowledged her contributions, highlighting her dedication to the party and her participation in key political events.
Narwal’s mother, Savita, has raised concerns over her daughter’s political growth, suggesting possible jealousy among party members. Accompanied by her son Jatin, she demanded justice and called for accountability.
“Last time, I talked to her on February 27. She had said she would be busy with a party programme the next day, but later her phone was found switched off.
“Till the time my daughter does not get justice, we won’t cremate her,” she said.
Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda assured that he had spoken to Rohtak’s superintendent of police, emphasizing the need for swift justice.
Congress MLA from Rohtak, BB Batra, praised Narwal’s commitment to the party and urged strict action against those responsible.
“Those who have committed the crime should be severely punished,” Batra said.
Investigations continue as authorities work to uncover the circumstances behind the murder.
