Haryana, December 28:
A significant Haryana Cabinet meeting will be held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Over 15 proposals will be discussed during the meeting. One of the key items on the agenda is the proposal to increase the pension for Hindi movement-1957 mother tongue agitators from ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 per month. Additionally, service rules for technical positions in the education department and other related matters will also be discussed.
Currently, the Information, Public Relations, Language, and Culture Department provides a monthly pension of ₹15,000 to 161 mother tongue agitators or their surviving spouses. Chief Minister Saini had announced this increase in June. The proposed increase to ₹20,000 per month will add an additional ₹96.60 lakh to the state’s annual budget, bringing the total annual expenditure to approximately ₹3.86 crore.
