Gurgaon, February 26:
A bizarre workplace incident from Gurgaon has gone viral on social media, where an employee of a startup was allegedly fired for taking short tea and smoke breaks, along with leaving the office on time. The story, shared on Reddit, has sparked outrage among users, with many criticizing the company’s approach.
According to the viral post, the employee stated that within just a few days of joining, the management started questioning his “attitude” and claimed he didn’t appear “grounded.” He was left confused by the feedback but still assured them that he would improve if needed.
The employee further revealed that he and two new colleagues would occasionally take short breaks for tea and smoking, which the boss strongly disapproved of. “I was told not to create a group as it was not good for the company culture,” he mentioned.
Things escalated when the manager began objecting to him leaving the office exactly at 7 PM, the official closing time. “He told me that leaving on time every day was not a good sign,” the employee wrote.
Within 20 days, the company terminated him, leaving him jobless. The post has triggered a heated debate online, with users slamming the company for its toxic work culture.
