In a significant success, the Commissionerate Police, in collaboration with the Counter Intelligence team, has arrested four suspects in connection with a petrol bomb attack intended to intimidate Shiv Sena leaders Harkirat Singh Khurana and Yogesh Bakshi. The arrests were made in the Nawanshahr area, while a fifth suspect remains at large.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Jaswinder Singh, Ravinderpal Singh, Anil, and Manish, while their accomplice, Lovepreet Singh, is still on the run and is being pursued by the police. The suspects allegedly carried out the attack at the behest of Harkirat Singh Laddi, a terrorist associated with Babbar Khalsa, who is currently residing abroad.

Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal revealed that both attacks on the Shiv Sena leaders’ homes were executed in a similar manner, suggesting that the intent was to intimidate the leaders and apply pressure on them. After the attacks, police reviewed CCTV footage from both areas, identifying the same bike and license plate being used in both incidents, which helped track down and apprehend the suspects.

During the investigation, it was discovered that one of the suspects, Manish, was in contact with Harkirat Singh Laddi, the Babbar Khalsa terrorist abroad. Following Laddi’s instructions, Manish planned the operation and recruited the other suspects, who were reportedly offered substantial sums of money. The suspects, under Laddi’s orders, conducted reconnaissance before launching attacks first at Yogesh Bakshi’s residence and then at Harkirat Singh Khurana’s home.

A detailed plan was created, covering the location of the attacks and the escape routes. The suspects allegedly received foreign funding for the operation. Police are currently searching for the fifth suspect and examining financial records and mobile data of all involved. The police believe that further significant revelations may emerge as the investigation progresses.
