Delhi, February 3:

The Election Commission has banned exit polls in Delhi on February 5, the day of the assembly elections. The restriction will be in effect from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

An official notification released on Monday cited Section 126A(1) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, stating that no exit poll results may be conducted, published, or disseminated through print, electronic, or any other media during this period.

The results of the Delhi assembly elections, along with bypolls for the Milkipur seat in Uttar Pradesh and the Erode (East) seat in Tamil Nadu, will be declared on February 8.

The Election Commission emphasized that under Section 126A of the RP Act, 1951, publishing or broadcasting exit poll results during a restricted period is strictly prohibited.
