Garhshankar, May 9
In a bold display of discontent, the Democratic Teachers Front Unit in Garhshankar, led by Sukhdev Dansiwal, staged a protest against the unresolved issues plaguing teachers. The focal point of their ire was the Education Minister, symbolically represented by the burning of his effigy at the court premises.
Mukesh Kumar, the DTF state general secretary, expressed deep frustration over the lack of action despite assurances from the Education Minister during meetings. He highlighted the plight of teachers like Narendra Bhandari and Ravinder Kamboj, who faced injustice due to the system’s negligence.
Kumar also drew attention to the failure to integrate computer teachers into the Education Department under the sixth pay commission through PICTIS. This omission, he emphasized, has left computer teachers in a state of limbo, exacerbating their grievances.
The protest underscores the growing dissatisfaction among teachers regarding the government’s handling of their concerns. Unless concrete steps are taken to address these issues, such demonstrations may escalate, posing a significant challenge to educational authorities.
