Punjab, February 11:
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has registered cases against eight illegal travel agents based on complaints from youths who were deported from the United States. According to ADGP (NRI Affairs) Praveen Sinha, two FIRs have been lodged with the district police, while six have been registered with the NRI Affairs wing of the Punjab Police.
ADGP Sinha stated that the Punjab Police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to crack down on fraudulent immigration agents and dismantle international human trafficking networks. He emphasized that strict action is being taken against those who exploit innocent people by making false promises of illegal entry into foreign countries.
This action pertains to Indian citizens who were deported from the U.S. and arrived in Amritsar. Investigations revealed that certain travel agents had deceived these youths with false assurances of entry into the U.S. illegally. The police have recorded statements in these cases and urged the public to remain cautious and report any instances of illegal immigration fraud to the authorities.
