Chandigarh, December 4:

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today said that the ‘Nishan-e-Inquilab’ Plaza will inspire the youth to serve the nation selflessly by spreading the life and philosophy of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh.

While addressing a gathering after dedicating the ₹5 crore ‘Nishan-e-Inquilab’ Plaza at Airport Road, where a 30-foot bronze statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh has been installed, the Chief Minister said that this great martyr should not only be remembered on his martyrdom day (March 23) or his birth anniversary (September 28), but every moment. He added that this plaza will always inspire our younger generations to follow the footsteps of this great martyr and serve the nation. Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed hope that this plaza will serve as a beacon for travelers coming from across the country and abroad, acquainting them with the contribution of this great martyr.

The Chief Minister said that due to the tireless efforts of the state government, the name of Mohali Airport has been changed to Shaheed Bhagat Singh Airport. He stated that no previous government had even thought of naming the airport after the great martyr, but after taking office, their government prioritized this. Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that naming airports, universities, and other institutions after these great martyrs is essential to preserving their glorious legacy.

The Chief Minister stated that the state government is leaving no stone unturned to realize the dreams of these great martyrs. He said that ensuring the progress of Punjab and the welfare of the people according to the dreams of these great patriots is the duty of the state government. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the day is not far when Punjab, through the solid efforts of the state government, will emerge as the leading state in the country.

The Chief Minister assured that the state government is committed to realizing every dream of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and building a society based on goodwill and equality. He said that the young freedom fighter had sacrificed his life at a young age to liberate the country from foreign imperialism. Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed regret that previous governments, during the past 70 years, ignored the dreams of great martyrs like Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh.

The Chief Minister added that the Punjab government is ensuring that no youth from the state has to go abroad in search of employment so that Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s dreams can be fulfilled. He said that the state government has transparently provided nearly 50,000 jobs to the youth, and no effort will be spared. Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that the Punjab government has initiated reverse migration in the state.

The Chief Minister said, “At the age when youth ask their parents for gifts, Shaheed Bhagat Singh asked the British for the freedom of his motherland.” Bhagwant Singh Mann mentioned that Shaheed Bhagat Singh was an educated leader, who always cared for the welfare of the people.

The Chief Minister said that the dreams of Shaheed-e-Azam are still incomplete as corruption, nepotism, and poverty continue to spread. He urged people to rise above caste, religion, and communalism to make India the number one country. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this would be the true tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh and other freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the motherland.

The Chief Minister called upon the youth to come forward to build the nation as per the dreams of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, adding that to realize the dreams of the martyrs, we all have to make tireless efforts. He said that restoring the ancient glory of the state is the need of the hour. He stated that these great martyrs were not just individuals but institutions in themselves. He urged that for the development of the country, we must walk in their footsteps.

The Chief Minister said that the great sacrifice of Shaheed Bhagat Singh will inspire the youth to serve the nation. He added that besides freeing the country, Shaheed Bhagat Singh also envisioned a corruption and poverty-free India. Bhagwant Singh Mann inspired the youth to take an oath to follow the footsteps of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and serve the state.
