Amritsar police have arrested five drug traffickers in separate cases, one of whom is an international heroin smuggler. The rural district police of Amritsar are continuing their crackdown on criminals and drug traffickers.

In one operation, the police arrested Fareko Masih, son of Lali Masih, and Arsh Masih, residents of Kuraliya village, near Bal Lambe Dariya village. A 32-bore country-made pistol, a magazine, and four cartridges were recovered from the accused. The suspects are linked to a gang involved in the illegal trafficking of weapons. A case has been registered at Ramdas police station, and further investigation is underway, with more revelations expected.

Fareko Masih, the arrested arms trafficker, had a prior vehicle theft case registered against him at the Majitha Road police station in Amritsar City. During his imprisonment, he came in contact with other criminals and became involved in arms trafficking after his release.

SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) Charanjit Singh stated that their team acted on intelligence to conduct operations in various villages targeting anti-social elements. In another operation, Lopoke police arrested two traffickers, Malkit Singh of Bachiwind village and Baljinder Singh alias Tota of Makhanpura village, recovering 2 kilograms of heroin from them.

In a separate case, Gurbhej Singh of Kakkar Kalan village was arrested by Lopoke police. He is an international heroin smuggler who sources heroin from Pakistan for supply in India. From his possession, 3 kilograms of heroin and two mobile phones were recovered. The seized phones are expected to reveal connections with drug traffickers in both India and Pakistan.

The Gharinda police also arrested Jagrup Singh alias Sajan of Dhannoe Kalan village near the Attari border. During the search, 1.498 kilograms of heroin were recovered.

According to SSP Charanjit Singh, Baljinder Singh alias Tota had a prior drug trafficking case registered against him a year ago at the Ropar police station.
