Uttar Pradesh, December 11:
Actor Sapna Singh’s 14-year-old son was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Uttar Pradesh, leading to protests and the arrest of two individuals, the police reported on Wednesday.
The actor staged a demonstration in Bareilly after her son’s death, which lasted for over 90 minutes until the police assured her that action would be taken.
The deceased, Sagar Gangwar, had been staying with his maternal uncle, Om Prakash, in Anand Vihar Colony, Bareilly. Sagar’s body was discovered on Sunday morning near Adalakhia village in the Izzatnagar area. The postmortem report did not provide a definitive cause of death but suggested possible poisoning or a drug overdose. Viscera samples have been sent for further analysis, said Ashutosh Shivam, Circle Officer of Faridpur.
Two of Sagar’s friends, Anuj and Sunny, both adults, were arrested and charged with murder after admitting during interrogation that they had consumed alcohol and drugs with Sagar. They claimed the overdose caused Sagar to collapse, and in a state of panic, they dragged his body to a nearby field and abandoned it, according to Bhuta Police Station Inspector Sunil Kumar.
Initially, the death was treated as an unidentified case, but following a missing persons report filed by Om Prakash on December 7, the body was identified. CCTV footage from the vicinity showed the two men dragging Sagar’s body, leading to their arrest.
The discovery of the incident sparked protests in Sagar’s village, where locals demanded a second postmortem and blocked the roads. Sapna Singh, who is known for her roles in “Crime Patrol” and “Mati Ki Banno,” returned from Mumbai to find her son dead. Overcome with grief, she called for justice. In response to the protests, the police filed a fresh FIR and added charges of murder.
