3 Khalistani Terrorists Linked to Gurdaspur Grenade Attack Killed in UP Encounter

Gurdaspur (Punjab), December 23:

Three suspected terrorists, allegedly connected to the grenade attack in Gurdaspur, were neutralized during an encounter with a joint operation by the Uttar Pradesh Police and Punjab Police in Pilibhit on Monday morning. Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav described the development as a significant success against the Pakistan-backed Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) network.

The suspects were identified as Gurvinder Singh (25), Virender Singh, also known as Ravi (23), and Jaspreet Singh, alias Paetap Singh (18), all hailing from Gurdaspur, Punjab.

The encounter occurred in the Puranpur area of Pilibhit district, Uttar Pradesh.

Amitabh Yash, Additional Director General (Law and Order) for Uttar Pradesh Police, stated that the trio had been involved in the grenade attack targeting a police checkpoint in Gurdaspur.

All three sustained critical injuries during the encounter and were immediately transported to the Community Health Centre in Puranpur,” he said.

The ADG confirmed to PTI that the suspects later succumbed to their injuries.

Authorities recovered two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and a large quantity of ammunition from the scene, Yash added.

In a post on X, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav stated, “In a major breakthrough against a Pak-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terror module, a joint operation by the UP Police and Punjab Police resulted in an encounter with three module members who opened fire on the police team.

He revealed that the group was involved in grenade attacks targeting police facilities in Punjab’s border areas.

The encounter occurred within the jurisdiction of PS Puranpur, Pilibhit, as part of the joint operation between Pilibhit and Punjab police teams. These module members were linked to the grenade attack on a Gurdaspur police post,” Yadav said.

The DGP confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the terror module’s activities.
