Tragedy Strikes Northeast Delhi: Man’s Shooting Spree Claims Police Officer’s Life

Sharing is caring!

Delhi, April 16

In a shocking incident on Tuesday, a 44-year-old man went on a shooting spree atop the bustling Meet Nagar Flyover in northeast Delhi. The rampage resulted in the tragic demise of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Delhi Police, while another innocent passerby sustained a bullet wound. The assailant, identified as Mukesh, took the life of ASI Sharma and injured another individual, Mr. Kumar, who was simply commuting on his scooty at the time of the attack. The chaos unfolded swiftly, leaving the victims rushed to GTB Hospital for medical assistance.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey, Mukesh’s spree didn’t stop there. He attempted to commandeer an auto-rickshaw, resorting to violence when faced with resistance from the driver. The shooter eventually turned the gun on himself, inflicting fatal wounds. The aftermath of the incident revealed the grim reality of the situation, with a 7.65 mm pistol recovered from the scene alongside multiple live rounds and spent cartridges scattered across the flyover. As investigations unfold, the community mourns the loss of a dedicated police officer and reflects on the senseless violence that has once again shaken the city.
