Punjab, December 10:

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal has reached Shri Damdama Sahib in Bathinda to offer prayers and perform seva.

Senior SAD leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema alleged that the government is protecting Narayan Singh Chawda, the main accused in the attack on former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. He claimed that the police are providing him with full protection.

SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia urged DGP Gaurav Yadav to transfer the investigation of the assassination attempt on Sukhbir Badal at the Golden Temple from district-level officers to a higher authority. Majithia suggested that either the DGP himself or Special DGP Prabodh Kumar should take charge of the case.

In a letter to the DGP, Majithia highlighted IPS Prabodh Kumar’s impartial handling of the Lawrence Bishnoi case, where he submitted a fair report to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He recommended entrusting Kumar with this investigation as well, given his proven track record.

Majithia also demanded the registration of an FIR against Superintendent of Police Harpal Singh Randhawa and his arrest, alleging negligence and a questionable role in the matter. Furthermore, he accused Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar of trying to appease the current government.

Majithia added that another suspect, identified as Dharam Singh alias Baba Dharma, an active member of the Khalistan Commando Force (KCF), has been spotted in CCTV footage. He stressed the need for an unbiased and thorough investigation into his involvement.
