Punjab, February 14:
A special chartered flight carrying 119 Indian nationals deported from the United States is set to land at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar late tonight, according to police officials.
This marks the second deportation flight from the US in the wake of a stringent crackdown on illegal immigration. The majority of those being sent back belong to Punjab, with 67 individuals from the state. Haryana follows with 33 deportees, while Gujarat has 8. Smaller numbers of deportees come from Uttar Pradesh (3), Goa (2), Maharashtra (2), and Rajasthan (2). Additionally, one individual each from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir is also on board.
A senior police official, speaking anonymously, confirmed that authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation. Immigration officials, law enforcement agencies, and representatives from the Ministry of External Affairs will be stationed at the airport to manage the arrival process and conduct necessary formalities.
The official further stated that another deportation flight from the US is scheduled to arrive in Amritsar on February 16, bringing back more Indian nationals.
