Under the guidance of Satguru Mata Sudiksha Ji Maharaj, the Sant Nirankari Mission continues its commitment to social service. In a special program organized at the District Health and Family Welfare Department auditorium in Kangra, representatives of the Mission’s local unit handed over 150 Nikshay Poshan Kits to the Deputy Commissioner for 50 TB patients, covering their nutritional needs for three months.
Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa expressed his gratitude towards Satguru Mata Sudiksha Ji Maharaj and the Mission’s local management for their commendable efforts. He praised the Mission for its exemplary contribution to society, stating that Nirankari devotees consistently take an active part in social initiatives, which deserve widespread recognition.
He highlighted that this initiative not only provides nutritional support to TB patients but also extends psychological and social encouragement. During the event, the Deputy Commissioner personally distributed nutritional kits to TB patients.
Strengthening the “TB-Free India” Campaign
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that this effort by the Sant Nirankari Mission is a significant step toward strengthening the “TB-Free India” campaign. He noted that the Mission’s initiative conveys a positive message to society, inspiring a more empathetic outlook toward TB patients.
He further mentioned that this contribution by Nikshay Mitras (supporters of TB patients) plays a crucial role in improving the lives of TB patients and motivates society to change its perspective on this illness. Under the government’s Nikshay Poshan Yojana, TB patients receive a monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000. The Mission, in addition to this, will regularly check on the health progress of the patients and wish for their speedy recovery.
TB: More Than a Medical Issue
Dr. Rajesh Sood, District Health Officer and District Tuberculosis Program Officer, remarked that TB is not just a medical issue but also a social challenge. He expressed concern over the misconceptions and stigma associated with TB, which often result in patients facing untimely deaths.
Dr. Sood clarified that once treatment begins, TB patients are no longer contagious, and there is no need for isolation. He stressed the importance of raising awareness about TB and eliminating the associated stigma to improve patient outcomes.
Special Presence and Support
The program was graced by the presence of Dr. K.C. Dhiman, Zonal Incharge of the Sant Nirankari Mission; Tilak Raj Dogra, Regional Director; and Rupa Gurung, Coordinator of the Dadi Branch. They reiterated the Mission’s commitment to this noble cause and expressed their determination to further these efforts.
This initiative not only ensures nutritional and health support for TB patients but also aims to foster a positive attitude toward health and well-being in society.
