Punjab, December 18:

Farmers in Punjab are set to halt train traffic on Wednesday as part of their ongoing protest demanding a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of crops, among other issues. This comes after a recent attempt to travel to New Delhi was thwarted by Haryana Police, who used tear gas and water cannons to stop a group of 100 farmers’ representatives.

The ‘Rail Roko’ protest, which aims to intensify their demands, is expected to cause significant disruptions, with passengers facing inconvenience as trains are blocked across various parts of the state.

Sarwan Singh Pandher, a prominent farmer leader, announced that the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha activists would block railway traffic between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM on Wednesday.
