Plot to Attack Chandigarh Sector 39 Police Station with Grenades Exposed: IB Intercepts Terrorist Call

Sharing is caring!

Chandigarh, January 18:

A conspiracy to target Chandigarh’s Sector 39 police station with a grenade attack has come to light. The Intelligence Bureau (IB) uncovered this crucial information after intercepting an international call.

According to sources, the plan is being orchestrated by Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, a notorious terrorist affiliated with Babbar Khalsa. The intercepted call revealed discussions about the attack, indicating that reconnaissance of the police station had already been completed. The attack is planned for around 2 AM. The IB shared this intelligence with the Chandigarh police.

Security Tightened

Following the inputs from Delhi, the security of the Sector 39 police station has been significantly enhanced. Round-the-clock checkpoints have been set up outside the station to monitor suspicious activities. Solar-powered cameras have been installed on the outer walls to ensure surveillance even during power outages. Armed guards equipped with SLR rifles and bulletproof jackets have been stationed at the entrance. Security at other police stations in the city has also been heightened during the night.

Arrest of Happy Passia’s Associate

In 2020, Chandigarh Police Inspector Ram Rattan Sharma arrested Gurpreet Singh, alias Gopi, a close associate of Happy Passia. Gopi was linked to several attacks in Punjab and had been plotting to assassinate an SP of Punjab Police over a property dispute.

Grenade Attack in Sector 10

Happy Passia’s involvement was also confirmed in the grenade attack on House No. 575 in Chandigarh’s Sector 10 on September 10. Hours after the incident, Happy claimed responsibility for the attack via a social media post. He is known to be an associate of Harvinder Rinda, a Pakistan-based terrorist. Recently, the NIA announced a ₹5 lakh reward for information leading to Happy’s capture.

In light of these developments, Chandigarh Police has reinforced security measures and is keeping a close watch on any suspicious activities to prevent such incidents.
