Mandi/Chandigarh, January 23:
22-year-old Nisha Soni, a resident of Jogindernagar in Mandi district, had been training to become an air hostess in Chandigarh for the past three years. Tragically, not only did she fail to realize her dream, but she also lost her life in a deceitful and heartbreaking turn of events. Nisha’s boyfriend, who was married and a father, betrayed her trust and ultimately took her life.
Nisha’s body was found near Patiala on January 22, leading to the revelation of the murder. According to the police, her boyfriend, Yuvraj Singh, had been continuously misleading her with promises of marriage, even though he was already married with a child. Yuvraj had also threatened to make a video of Nisha go viral, adding to her distress. On January 20, Nisha had returned to Chandigarh, and CCTV footage showed her meeting with Yuvraj later that day.
Nisha’s sister, Ritu Soni, filed a police complaint stating that on January 20, Yuvraj had called Nisha to meet him. During their meeting, he threatened to release a video and later took her to the Bhakra Canal near Roopnagar, where he pushed her into the water, resulting in her death.
Yuvraj Singh, a policeman in Mohali’s Special Cell, is originally from Fatehgarh Sahib. The police have filed a murder case against him and have taken him into custody. Yuvraj had told Nisha that he was unmarried, hiding the fact that he was already married and had a child. Fearing that his secret would be exposed, he took the extreme step of killing Nisha.
The police conducted a post-mortem at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala and handed over the body to the family. The incident has left the entire community in shock and mourning.
