Chandigarh, Nov 11
A high-speed metro train will soon connect Delhi to Karnal in Haryana, covering a distance of approximately 135 kilometers in just 45 minutes, with a speed of up to 160 kilometers per hour. Currently, it takes around two and a half hours by bus or car to travel from Delhi to Karnal, so the metro project will bring significant relief, saving both time and money for commuters.
A rapid rail corridor is planned to extend to Karnal. Initially, it was to be built only up to Panipat, but a recent meeting in Delhi with Union Minister Manohar Lal and Chief Minister Nayab Saini approved its extension to Karnal. A survey will be conducted to explore the feasibility of this extension.
On World Public Transport Day, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) shared a teaser on the social media platform X, claiming that future metro projects would include high-speed, “cheetah-speed” rapid metro services.
17 Metro Stations Planned between Delhi and Karnal
The Delhi-Panipat rapid metro rail line will now extend to Karnal, with 17 stations planned along the route, including three in Karnal. Groundwork for the Delhi-Karnal rapid metro rail transit system has already begun, with route mapping and station marking underway. Each metro train will have a capacity of 250 passengers and will be available every 6 to 10 minutes.
