Haryana Police’s Stringent Action Against Criminal Activities: Operation Aakarman

Haryana Police has been continuously taking action against criminal activities. To crack down on crime and criminal activities in the state, this year more than three times as many Operation Aakarman were launched compared to the previous year. Under this, 13,610 teams simultaneously conducted raids, sending 8,307 criminals behind bars. During this time, Haryana Police also challaned 23,387 vehicles for violating lane driving.

Providing information about this, Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur said that under Operation Aakarman, the police conduct raids on criminals simultaneously with multiple teams in a planned manner. First, accurate information about criminal activities is collected and teams are formed to catch the criminals. He said that Haryana Police has conducted 16 Operation Aakarman so far. In 2022 and 2023, a total of 6 Operation Aakarman were conducted, while this year the figure is 10. He said that in 2022, 2644 and in 2023, 3533 accused were arrested under Operation Aakarman, while this year 10 Operation Aakarman were conducted, under which 4,239 FIRs were registered in the state and 8,307 criminals were arrested. A total of 68,885 police personnel participated in these 10 Operation Aakarman.

Mr. Kapur said that during Operation Aakarman in 2024, a total of 272 FIRs were registered under the Arms Act, 168 pistols were recovered, and 112 people were arrested in these cases. Similarly, 745 kg 452 grams of ganja, 3 kg of heroin, and 337 kg 25 grams of smack were recovered. In these cases, a total of 877 FIRs were registered under the NDPS Act across the state and 441 accused were arrested.

He said that during this campaign, in 2024, the teams tightened the noose around notorious criminals and nabbed a total of 44 most wanted rewarded criminals, while the figure was 8 last year. Also, the police succeeded in catching 42 cyber criminals, 697 proclaimed offenders and 708 bail jumpers. These arrested criminals were wanted in many cases and were absconding to avoid arrest. In addition, many thousands of vehicles were also challaned under the Motor Vehicles Act.

During the special campaign, the police succeeded in cracking down on liquor smugglers by registering 2443 FIRs under the Excise Act, seizing 20461.5 bottles of English liquor, 40828.5 bottles of desi liquor, 4658 bottles of beer, and 31490 liters of lahan. 1105 people were arrested in the state under the Excise Act. The police also recovered more than Rs. 26 lakhs in cash from 441 accused arrested under the Gambling Act.

It is noteworthy that Operation Aakarman will continue to be conducted on a large scale in the future to curb crime and criminal elements from the state. Operation Aakarman is conducted under the leadership of Superintendents of Police and Police Commissioners, which is monitored by the Director General of Police himself. Raids are launched based on the information collected against the criminals. The objective of Operation Aakarman is to provide a safe and fearless environment to the people in the state so that people can live their lives fearlessly.
