Punjab Police has busted a cross-border smuggling racket and made the biggest ever seizure of heroin in an intelligence-based operation. In this operation, the police have recovered 105 kg of heroin, 31.93 kg of caffeine anhydrous, 17 kg of DMR (Dimethyl DiethoxyBenzyl) and a huge quantity of weapons. Besides, two associates of international drug smuggler Navpreet Singh Nav Bhullar, Navjot Singh and Lovepreet Kumar have also been arrested.
Use of waterways for smuggling
The waterway was used to transport drugs from Pakistan. Police also recovered large rubber tubes from tyres, indicating that these were used during smuggling through the water route.
A large consignment of weapons was also recovered
5 foreign pistols and 1 country made pistol have also been recovered from the smugglers, which shows the seriousness of this international drug cartel. An FIR has been registered in this matter in the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) of Punjab Police, Amritsar.
Police investigation continues
The police are now taking the investigation forward to arrest more members of this drug cartel. Investigation is being conducted to establish backward and forward linkages, so that other criminals involved in this network can also be arrested.
