Shambhu Border (Punjab), December 6:
The group of 101 farmers marching towards Delhi for their demands has been called “Marjeevras” this time. Farmer leader Surjit Singh Phool said that the term “Marjeevra” does not mean taking someone’s life, but rather presenting oneself to sacrifice their life.
Farmers Have Also Set Up Barricades at Shambhu Border
Farmers have also set up barricades at Shambhu Border. Pander revealed that there will be a buffer zone where volunteers will be stationed, and no one will be allowed to go beyond this point. The decision to set up barricades was taken to prevent a repeat of the situation that occurred in February, as sometimes, when farmers are mistreated, angry youths get provoked, or mischievous elements might be used to disrupt the farmers’ protest. Farmer organizations do not want to put anyone’s life at risk.
A rescue team of about 150 members will be accompanying the farmers’ group. Pander stated that if tear gas shells are fired by drones from Haryana, the rescue team members will immediately throw wet sacks to block the smoke and protect the farmers. Wet cloths will also be kept ready to cover faces. There will be arrangements for drinking water for the farmers, and an ambulance will also be available to take any injured farmers to the hospital for immediate medical care.
