Social media was abuzz today with reports confirming the divorce of Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife, choreographer Dhanashree Verma. Viral posts suggested that the couple had legally parted ways on February 20, with the final hearing taking place at Mumbai’s Bandra court on Thursday.
However, Advocate Aditi Mohoni, representing Dhanashree, refuted these claims in a statement to Bombay Times, saying, “The case is still under legal consideration. We urge the media to verify facts before reporting, as several misleading stories are being circulated.”
Speculation also arose about a hefty ₹60 crore alimony allegedly paid by Chahal as part of the divorce settlement. These reports triggered widespread backlash, with online trolls targeting Dhanashree with accusations of opportunism.
A close family member of Dhanashree, speaking anonymously to Bombay Times, dismissed the rumors, stating, “The alimony figures being reported are completely baseless. No such amount has been asked, demanded, or even discussed. It is irresponsible to spread such misinformation, as it not only affects the individuals involved but also their families. We request the media to fact-check and respect everyone’s privacy instead of fueling unnecessary speculation.”
Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma tied the knot in December 2020.
