Amritsar, February 10:
In a late-night operation on Sunday, Amritsar police engaged in an encounter with three accused involved in the grenade attack on a closed police post on Fatehgarh Churian Road on February 3. Around midnight, the suspects opened fire on the police, prompting retaliatory action.
During the exchange of gunfire, two of the accused sustained serious injuries. The police successfully arrested all three suspects, identified as Boota Singh, Lovepreet Singh, and Karanpreet. An AK-47 and other weapons were recovered from them.
Police Corner Suspects on Airport Road, Two Injured in Crossfire
According to Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, authorities received a tip-off that the accused were heading towards Airport Road. Acting swiftly, the police team tracked them down and intercepted them near Bal Sikandar village. As soon as they were surrounded, the suspects opened fire on the police, leading to a retaliatory exchange in which Boota Singh and Lovepreet Singh were injured. All three were arrested on the spot, and their weapons were seized.
Suspects Linked to Foreign-Based Terrorist
Initial investigations revealed that the three suspects were working under the instructions of foreign-based terrorist Happy Passia. They were allegedly involved in extortion, grenade attacks, and other terror-related activities as per his orders. Currently, police are interrogating the accused to identify and apprehend their other associates.
