Chandigarh, March 3:

A large-scale ticket scam was uncovered at Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s live concert held in December 2024 at the Sector-34 Mela Ground in Chandigarh. Fraudsters duped numerous people by selling fake tickets online, leading to massive financial losses.

A youth from Zirakpur has now approached the police, alleging that he was scammed out of ₹8.22 lakh through counterfeit tickets. Acting on his complaint, the police registered a case at Sector-17 police station under fraud and other relevant sections.

How the Fraud Took Place

In his complaint, Sanskar Rawat, a resident of Maya Garden, Zirakpur, stated that he is a student living with his family. He met a man named Parv Kumar from Sector-42B, Chandigarh, who introduced him to a group of five friends claiming to sell tickets for Diljit Dosanjh’s concert in Chandigarh.

Sanskar agreed to purchase 98 tickets, including 17 Fan Pit, 3 Silver, and 78 Gold category tickets. On September 19, 2024, he transferred ₹96,000 online to Parv for the tickets. Later, he was introduced to another group member, Vardaan, to whom he paid ₹40,000 in October. Between October 24 and November, he made multiple transactions totaling ₹7 lakh.

He was also connected to a third person, Akashdeep, from whom he was supposed to receive 12 tickets. He transferred ₹43,000 to him, who assured him of ticket delivery at Sector-17 ISBT. Another gang member, Vineet, received ₹44,500 in return for additional tickets. The group continued to supply tickets until December 14, when they provided more at Sector-17 bus stand.

Fake Tickets Exposed at Entry Gate

At the concert venue, scanning machines were installed at the entry gate to detect counterfeit tickets. When Sanskar and his friends tried to enter, their tickets failed to scan, revealing that they were fake. The event security personnel immediately confiscated and tore the counterfeit tickets. However, the complainant retained some of the fake tickets as evidence.

Following this, a police complaint was filed, leading to an FIR against Vardaan Maan, Parv Kumar, Vineet Paul, Akashdeep Singh, and Rohan Singh under the BNS Act at Sector-17 police station for allegedly selling fake tickets.
