Death toll in Bengaluru accident reaches five, Deputy CM says – will take strict action against illegal construction

The death toll in the accident due to the collapse of an under-construction building in Bangalore has increased to five. There is still a possibility of some people being buried under the debris, for whose rescue rescue teams are engaged. Five people have been injured in the accident and 13 people have been rescued safely. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, when an under-construction building collapsed in Horamavu Agara area in the eastern part of Bengaluru. At the time of the accident, 20 people were trapped under the debris.

Strict instructions on illegal construction
Relief and rescue operations are continuing even on Wednesday morning. Rescue work is going on with the help of dog swad. Four of the injured have been admitted to the hospital. Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar visited the accident site on Tuesday night itself. He said the building was being constructed illegally and called for strict action against the culprits. Shivakumar said that I have ordered strict action against construction of illegal buildings without permission in Bangalore. A team will be formed to inspect the buildings under construction.

It is noteworthy that these days heavy rains are going on in Karnataka. Normal life is disrupted due to heavy rains in Bangalore city also. There is waterlogging situation in many areas. Traffic is closed on many roads due to waterlogging. Rain is also believed to be the reason behind the collapse of the building. Many flights have been affected due to waterlogging at airports. According to media reports, 176 mm of rain has fallen in Bangalore rural areas till Tuesday morning. Whereas Bangalore urban area has received 157 mm rainfall. Schools in the city have been kept closed due to rain and waterlogging. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in many areas of Karnataka even today.
