Amritsar, December 5:
Late on Wednesday night, around 11 PM, an unknown person threw a hand grenade inside Majitha Police Station, located in the rural district of Amritsar. The grenade was thrown in the open area inside the station, causing a powerful explosion. The police, who were quick to respond, immediately closed the station’s gates.
Hearing the blast, locals gathered at the scene. Upon receiving the information, SP Charanjit Singh and DIG Satinder Singh rushed to the site, and an investigation began. According to reports, the incident occurred around 11 PM on Wednesday when police were on duty inside the station. At that time, an unknown person threw a hand grenade from outside the station.
Second Blast in Six Days
Just six days earlier, a similar hand grenade explosion had taken place at the abandoned Gur Bakhsh Nagar police post in the urban district. Prior to this, on the night of November 23-24, a plan to plant an IED near Ajnala Police Station was uncovered. Over the past 15 days, three such incidents have occurred. However, the police have not yet identified the suspects or made any arrests.
