Attack on Police Party in Hoshiarpur, Three Officers Beaten and Clothes Torn

Hoshiarpur, January 28:

Late last night, a police team was attacked while responding to a distress call in Mohalla Sundar Nagar, Hoshiarpur. The incident occurred when migrant workers got into a scuffle, and the police attempted to intervene and separate them. The enraged crowd then turned on the officers, resulting in a violent confrontation. One police officer in plain clothes had his clothes torn by the mob. As a result, two officers fled to save themselves. Upon receiving the distress call, the local police station sent a large force to the scene.

DSP Dev Datt Sharma stated that they received information about a fight in Mohalla Sundar Nagar, and three officers were sent to intervene. However, the situation escalated when the mob attacked the police, injuring three officers.

In the chaos, an elderly woman was also severely injured. She was rushed to the Hoshiarpur Civil Hospital, where her relatives accused the police of hitting her with a baton, causing her injuries. In retaliation, the local residents then attacked the police.
