Amritsar, February 14:
The Amritsar Rural Police have arrested a suspect and seized 30 kg of heroin along with a car. The heroin was smuggled from Pakistan using a drone and was recovered in the Ghiranda police station area.
According to SSP Rural Charanjit Singh, authorities received information that smugglers in Pakistan had sent a large consignment of heroin across the border using a drone. Acting on this intelligence, police launched a thorough search operation in the border region.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the consignment had been dropped in the Ghiranda area. A trap was set, and a suspicious car was stopped for checking. Upon searching the vehicle, heroin was found inside. Following a detailed interrogation, the suspect led the police to the recovery of the full 30 kg consignment.
The police are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in this smuggling operation, as handling such a large quantity of heroin is unlikely to be the work of a single person.
